Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

Jen in LA

9:00 AM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

Exciting news for JLA fans who live in and around the Southern CA area.

Jen is over there today for a special signing event with fellow authors Melody Grace and Monica Murphy. To make things even sweeter, a couple of special guests will be there - cover models Drew Leighty (Seth from The Return) AND Pepe Toth (Daemon *freaking* Black from The Lux Series). That's right JLA addicts. It was confirmed yesterday that Pepe would be attending the event.

I am so jealous of everyone who will be attending the event later today and I can't wait to see pictures.

Jen paid a special visit to Sierra Affinity, the company who will be producing Obsidian and she had to tease fans.

I can't wait to hear more about what they discussed.

And Jen is also in CA to help shoot the book trailer for her upcoming book, The Power (the second book in the Titan Saga).

I am so curious as to who will be in the trailer and what lucky fan won her contest to actually be an extra in it. Gah! If only I lived in CA!

By the way, have you purchased your ticket for ApollyCon yet?

Obsidian Movie News: Screenwriter Announced!

7:20 PM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

We've finally got some Obsidian movie news for fans. I don't know about you, but I've been waiting AGES to hear how things are moving forward with the movie and I'm so excited to share that a screenwriter was announced today.

Straight from Deadline:

Novelist/screenwriter Ava Dellaria will adapt Obsidian, the Jennifer L. Armentrout novel that Sierra Pictures will finance, and produce with Mr. Mudd’s Russ Smith and Lianne Halfon. Published in 2014 by Macmillan, the book is part of a five-volume series known as the Lux Series. Sierra/Affinity’s Sierra’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg will be executive producers and handle international sale.

Want to know where you might have heard that name?

Screenwriter Dellaria adapted her own novel Love Letters To The Dead for Fox 2000 and was associate producer on The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which Mr. Mudd produced. That producing shingle, launched by Halfon, Smith and John Malkovich, just produced the Jean Marc-Vallee-directed Demolition, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper, and will be released next April by Fox Searchlight.

So, how excited are you to hear that things are actually progressing? It's been an excruciatingly slow process, but hopefully, once the screenplay is written, things will speed up. News of any kind is awesome, but I'm particularly excited to hear about casting. I can't wait!

#ForeverMoments Day - My Girls

2:05 PM Vi Nguyen 0 Comments

This isn't my personal blog, so I don't share anything like that here, but since I'm taking part in #ForeverMoments, which celebrates JLA's latest release, Forever With You, I thought I'd share a few moments in my life that have stayed with me forever.

One, well really, three of the biggest moments in my life were when each of my daughters were born. I never expected to be a mom to three girls, but each one has truly made my life richer and way more memorable. I don't have a lot in life, but I'm so thankful to have my children. Also, another moment I'll remember forever would be the day I married my husband. Without him I wouldn't be a mom to these amazing girls. They are my everything!

So here's a little more about what this is all about:

‪#‎ForeverMoments all stemmed from Jennifer L. Armentrout's title, FOREVER WITH YOU. This is going to be a day about celebrating and sharing the moments that stay forever with you—and the people who you’ll keep forever with you! There are some amazing friendships in FOREVER WITH YOU, and we want to hear about your #ForeverMoments! So go ahead and share a time when your best girlfriends had your back, or that one moment you know you’ll remember for the rest of your life, a moment that changed you in some way. And the sky is the limit with what you can do here…graphics, videos, an interview with someone who was a part of your #ForeverMoments, whatever makes you happy! Being creative, having fun and sharing your #ForeverMoments with the world is the most important thing here.

FOREVER WITH YOU Synopsis:

In the irresistibly sexy series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout, two free spirits find their lives changed by a one-night stand…

Some things you just believe in, even if you've never experienced them. For Stephanie, that list includes love. It's out there. Somewhere. Eventually. Meanwhile she's got her job at the mixed martial arts training center and hot flings with gorgeous, temporary guys like Nick. Then a secret brings them closer, opening Steph's eyes to a future she never knew she wanted—until tragedy rips it away.

Nick's self-assured surface shields a past no one needs to know about. His mind-blowing connection with Steph changes all that. As fast as he's knocking down the walls that have kept him commitment-free, she's building them up again, determined to keep the hurt—and Nick—out. But he can't walk away. Not when she's the only one who's ever made him wish for forever…

And don’t miss the previous titles in the Wait for You Series!

TRUST IN ME (Wait for You #1.5)

BE WITH ME (Wait for You #2)

I’m never disappointed when I read a JLA book, especially when it comes to this series. What can I say? The woman knows how to write a romance well. Not only that? She also does Realistic Fiction so well. Add to that her ability to create truly emotional and touching scenes that aren’t at all cheesy or forced, she’s one heck of a talented writer. Jen is able to take a serious subject and spin it just right so that I don’t end up giving the book an eye roll. Forever With You is a great addition to this series and I loved jumping back into this world and seeing some of my favorite characters again, seeing where they’re at in their lives right now.

I’ll tell you honestly, I don’t remember much of Stephanie, if anything at all, from the previous books. Most of the time when I’m reading, my main focus is on the main characters, or perhaps, the immediate secondary characters, if they’re memorable enough. She just never stood out to me. Regardless, when given her own book, I ended up liking her a lot and connected to her easily. Usually, you have someone who is jaded when it comes to love, so they swear off of it, but that’s not the case here and I appreciated that immensely. It’s nice to have a character who just never happened to fall in love and couldn’t care about it either way. She believes in it yes, but she’s a woman with needs and I liked her mindset when it came to getting what she wanted from guys. I liked her even more when things got serious with Nick and how she handled it all. And then when the inevitable happened, as I could see it coming a mile away, I totally connected with her and how she felt. Yes, I saw it coming, which I don’t usually mind as not much surprises me nowadays, but seeing how Nick and Stephanie handled it was what really made the book for me. Watching them deal with it all and seeing them navigate a relationship when they’re both fairly new at it, it was fun.

As for Nick, while he wasn’t my favorite guy in the series, he’s not bad. He pulled a couple jerk moves here and there, but he also pulled a lot of considerate and sweet moves, too. When his secret finally came out, it was kind of crazy, and explained a lot about how he acted around his friends and girls in general. I liked getting to know him better and Stephanie was definitely a good balance for his character.

So yes, if you already love JLA and this series, you’ll want to grab this one quickly and I’m sure you’ll devour it just as well. Stephanie and Nick’s story is strong and engaging. I really enjoyed it. And, if you love the other characters in the series, you’ll be happy to see how they all are now and how they intermix. Another winner from JLA, for sure.
