Daemon Teasers

9:35 AM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

Jennifer tweeted some pretty mysterious and intriguing teasers last night that really get you wondering the the heck is going on here?! I love it!! Oh, how I love teasers!

Daemon nodded. “According to the YA mafia leader, Luc, that’s what we have.”
“And this kid is trustworthy?” Matthew asked.
“I can speak for him.”
I looked at SPOILER blandly. “That’s a ringing endorsement.”

aaaaaand

His brows lowered as he shook his head, confounded, and then he threw his arms around me, squeezing me so tightly I squealed.
“God, I don’t even know…” He cupped the back of my head as he twisted away from the group, lowering his voice. “I was scared to death.”
“I’m okay.” My voice was muffled. “What about you? You had to have—”
“It’s all off me. Don’t even worry about that.” A shudder rocked him. “Damn, Kitten…”

She also tweeted this sexy picture of Pepe being such a gentleman and helping them carry a box during one of their Daemon Invasion tour stops. Awwww!!!

Obsidian Spanish Cover

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

Jen recently shared the Spanish cover of Obsidian with fans and I have to say I really love it. It's so vibrant and eye-catching!

The color choice is excellent and I love how the title stands out. It really grabs your attention right away. It's definitely different and although I do love Pepe & Sztella, I really love where they're going with these covers as well.

This bad girl will be released in November! Yay!

So, what do you think of the cover?

Grab Daimon in Audiobook Format!

4:37 PM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

You read that right people! Jen's first audiobook is now available for fans to purchase on Audible.com and enjoy. So happy that Spencer Hill Press has started doing this and although I haven't given into audiobooks yet, you know I'll be getting all of Jen's audiobooks to add to my "Jen Collection", lol.

(Prequel to Half-Blood, The Covenant Series)
Unabridged
Narrated by Luci Christian
Length: 2hr21mins
Price: $6.95

Wow! I'm surprised it's actually over 2 hours long! I don't know anything about audiobooks since I've never tried them, but I have read Daimon and it was pretty short so that's crazy that it's actually so long.

Cursed Pre-Order News

9:54 AM Vi Win Win 1 Comments

If you're one of the people who pre-ordered Cursed, Jen's upcoming standalone novel, then you might have gotten news that online retailers MAYBE shipping them out earlier than expected (I did happen to get an email from Amazon saying just that!).

Jennifer clears up the confusion with regards to this issue and about ebook/print copies:
If you've pre-ordered CURSED, you may or may not receive it anytime from now until the official release date which is 9/18/2012. If you decide to order it now, you may receive it. You may not. There is no way to know. The digital versions most likely will NOT go live until the official release date.
As an author, I have absolutely no control over release dates, rather it's pushed up or pushed back. That's all in the publisher and/or distributor's hands. Several things can mess with those dates.
I've gotten some questions about why this happens a lot and what it means. Sometimes when a book moves into the distributor's warehouse before the release date, the vendors can see that it's technically now "in stock" and they can start processing those orders. Normally, the book will still hold until the release date or should. Usually that can happen like a week before a release date and in this case, it's happening several weeks before the release date. Books typically shouldn't release this early.
Now, a little fun fact on CURSED. I wrote CURSED in 2008/2009, while I was querying Half-Blood. It was acquired in Spring of 2011 by SHP. So this little book is roughly four years in the making!
I guess the retailers know how much we love Jen's books and they want to get it into our hands as soon as possible, lol.

And, wow, "4 years in the making". I'm so happy that Jen is finally able to see Cursed on shelves and in the hands of fans everywhere real soon!

How about an Opal Teaser?!

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

Oh Jen, why must you torture us so?!

Jen recently tweeted a delicious Opal teaser:

“You better, because there is punishment for breaking the rules.”
“And what kind of punishment would that be?”
Daemon chuckled. “Probably the sort of punishment you’d enjoy.”

Yes Daemon, I would SO like a punishment from you! LOL!

Some Amazing Reviews So Far #JLARC

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 1 Comments

We're pretty much halfway through this month's challenge for the JLA Reading Challenge. I know things have been a bit scarce around here, but ICYMI, I've been studying for a particular exam so I haven't had the time to update & do Challenge stuff as much as I should. Trust me, the following months will be MUCH more interactive!

BUT, I felt the need to at least update you all on some of the amazing reviews from participants so far and to remind you to get those links in, because I know you've been reading Onyx at least, right?!

Oh, Onyx...

Here are some tidbits to a few reviews:

Lena from Between Fantasy & Reality had this to say about Katy & Daemon in Onyx -
Katy and Daemon are still amazing, I love how they interact and how their love was building up, it wasnt like in the majority of other books where love is immediate, with no build-up - just boom - and they´re in love.
Teresa from Readers Live a Thousand Lives compares the Luxen/Human couples -
Dawson and Bethany are what you would normally expect from a paranormal relationship, while Daemon and Katy break all the rules.
And I love how Michelle from Concise Book Reviews quoted amazing lines from Obsidian & gave us her take on each one -
This banter between Katy and Daemon is hilarious, I really got a kick out of it, you can tell as time goes by, that there is that passion under all the banter, and a fun wit that I love.
Fantastic reviews so far and I really can't wait to see more!

Remember, each review for each book counts as ONE entry into the giveaway for a pre-order of Cursed, Jen's upcoming standalone book, which comes out September 18th. Don't miss out!

JLA Interview with YA Magazine

3:36 PM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

Jen recently did an interview with YA Magazine during her Daemon Invasion tour. She dishes about what she's working on now, her influences, and so much more.
YA: WHAT ARE SOME OF THE QUALITIES IN YOUR LATEST WORK THAT SET IT/YOU APART FROM WHAT'S CURRENTLY OUR THERE ON THE MARKET?
JA: That's such a hard question to answer because I think it's hard to see your own work in comparison to what's out there, but from what I gather from readers, they seem to really like the snark and humor that are always evident in my characters. No matter what kind of genre I'm writing, I like humor, even if the material is dealing with darker elements. And I've also learned that when people say "Sexy YA" my name usually gets thrown in. =)
There's also this cool video interview she did that has Pepe & Sztella in it, looking fabulous and sweet together, as always!

For the full interview, check out the YA Magazine - MAJOR EXCLUSIVE.

Jennifer is a Rockstar!

9:32 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

There's this pretty amazing tour going on right now around the blogosphere called the Authors are Rockstars tour. (They really are!)

Anyways, today is Jennifer's turn and she's being featured over at the fabulous blog, Confessions of a Bookaholic, which is run by Jessica.

Jennifer answers some pretty cool questions and I learned quite a few new tidbits about her:
Imagine, you can pick 1 of your characters to hang out with for a day; who would it be and what would you spend the day doing?

I think I’d pick out Katy from the Lux Series, because we could talk about books all day.

She also dishes on Pepe a little (Yay!):
He’s really funny—has a great sense of humor
He doesn’t drink diet sodas...
And if that wasn't enough, Jessica is also hosting an ebook giveaway of any of her Jen's books from the Lux series. Nice!

Be sure to visit Jessica's blog to read the entire interview & enter for your chance to win!

Yummy Teasers & YA Crush Tourney Results for Aiden & Daemon!

9:23 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

I've seriously been slacking, but it seems like this is a good a time as any to update about the boys and the YA Crush Tourney.

Aiden (Sweet 16) & Daemon (Elite 8) both lost to that darn vampire, Dimitri, but JLA fans did her proud and they were both very close races. Kayleigh & Valerie did amazing jobs as advocates & it was all in all very fun! Don't worry fans, we'll get 'em next year!

Now, for those juicy teasers that Jen loves to tease us with!

Deity Teasers

“Alex,” he warned softly.
He pressed down, and when he breathed in, his chest rose against mine. In the utter darkness of the sensory deprivation room, his breath was warm against my lips.
I didn’t dare move.
Not even a fraction of an inch.

In a far corner of my mind, I knew that this blade wasn’t an ordinary dagger. It was dipped in something—most likely Titan blood.

Onyx Teasers

Daemon’s gaze dipped again, and I shivered under his intense scrutiny.
Why, oh why, did Blake need to bail early, leaving me behind with Daemon?
“Where did you get this dress?” he asked.
“Your sister,” I told him blandly.
He frowned, looking half disgusted.
“I don’t even know what to say about that.”

"Library Scene"

“Whatever, Kitten.” Daemon gripped my hips, lifting me onto the edge of the desk with an ease that was disturbing. “I know better.”

My breath was coming in short gasps. “You don’t know anything.”

“Uh huh. You know, I was worried about you,” he admitted, moving forward, easing my legs apart. “You kept calling out my name, and I kept answering, but it was like you couldn’t hear me.”
What were we talking about? My hands were on his lower stomach. His muscles were hard underneath the sweater. I slid my hands to his sides, totally meaning to push him away. Instead, I gripped
and pulled him forward. “Wow, I must’ve been really out of it.”
“It…scared me.”

Before I could respond or even give thought to the fact that my sickness actually scared him, our lips met. My brain clicked off as my fingers dug through his sweater, and…and oh, God, his kisses were deep, scorching my lips as his hands tightened on my waist, pulling me against him. Daemon kissed like he was a man starving for water, taking long, breathless drafts. His teeth caught my lower lip when he pulled away, only to come back for more. A heady mix of emotions warred inside me. I didn’t want this, because it was just the connection between us. I kept telling myself that, even as I slid my hands up his chest and circled them around his neck. When his hands inched under my shirt, it was as though he reached deep inside me, warming every cell, filling every dark space within me with the heat from his skin.

Touching him, kissing him, was like having a fever all over again. I was on fire. My body burned. The world burned. Sparks flew. Against his mouth, I moaned.
There was a POP! and CRACK!
The smell of burned plastic filled the cubicle. We pulled apart, breathing heavily. Over his shoulder I saw thin strips of smoke wafting from the top of the ancient monitor. Good God, was this going to happen every time we kissed?

"Kitchen Scene"

OMGee, Daemon is in the lead. Amazing! Now some of this scene is a tiny bit spoilery, so read at your own risk!

“Great. So I’m operating at the level of a toddler?”

Daemon’s lustrous eyes met mine. “Basically.” The dark graphic shirt strained against his chest when he laid the bloodied towel aside and leaned back. “Look, it’s stopped bleeding already. Not that bad.”
I glanced down and saw the fresh gash on my knee. Other than looking gross, it was salvageable. “Thank you for cleaning it up.”

“No problem. I don’t think you’ll need stitches.” He lightly brushed his ngertips around the cut.
I jerked at the contact. Little tingles shimmed up my leg. Daemon’s hand stilled as he lifted his head. His eyes went from a cool green to liquid fire within seconds.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked.

Sliding into his arms, kissing him and touching him—things I shouldn’t think about. I blinked.

“Nothing.”

Daemon rose slowly, holding my gaze. My whole body tensed as he neared and placed his hands on either side of me. Then he bent over the chair between us, resting his forehead against mine. He inhaled deeply and it came out in an unsteady rush. When he spoke, his voice was rough. “Do you know what
I’ve been thinking about all day?”

With him, it was anyone’s guess. “No.”

His lips brushed the skin of my cheek. “Finding out if you look as good in striped socks as you do in reindeer ones.”

“I do.”

His head slanted and his smile was lazy, arrogant. Predatory. “I knew it.”

I shouldn’t let this happen. There was a whole slew of complications: his attitude, the connection between us, and my new kindergarten-age abilities. Funny, the fact Daemon was an alien was the complication I considered the least important. And then there was Blake. That is, if Blake ever spoke to me

again, which was debatable. But due to Daemon’s interruption at dinner, I didn’t get to talk to Blake. Irony was a bitch. Knowing all of that, I still didn’t pull away. And neither did he. Oh no, he was moving closer. His pupils started to glow and his breath seemed to have stalled in his chest. “Do you have any idea what you do to me?” he asked gruffly.

“I’m not doing anything.”

Daemon shifted his head just enough that our lips brushed once…and then twice before he increased the pressure. This kiss…it was nothing like the other times, which seemed to be angry and challenging. As if we’d kissed to punish each other. But this was gentle and soft, feather light. In finitely tender.

Like the kiss we’d shared in the clearing the night he’d healed me. Light swept through me as we kissed, but soon the kisses, they weren’t enough. Not when a slow fire was burning under my skin—and under his.

Teasers from Daemon's POV

I was moving without realizing it, and the next thing I knew we were on the bed and she was right where I wanted her—in my lap.

I’d taken a step toward her house before I stopped myself. Kat hadn’t been feeling well earlier. Humans were so ridiculously fragile. They could die tripping over a damn chair leg. Car accidents could kill them. Colds turned into pneumonia and killed people.

Mental note: pick up Vitamin C before school tomorrow and force it down Kat’s throat.

Unchained Teaser

Her hand fluttered over a thin scar that sliced from the edge of her ribs to her belly button. Baal had given that to her along with the mark on her thigh. Julian pulled that hand to his lips. He first kissed the top of her hand, then the inside. Then he brought the palm of her hand against his chest, above where his heart rested. The simple and sweet gesture brought a rush of tears to her eyes. She swallowed, unable to say anything.

Opal Teaser

"in da club"

I smiled.

His arm tightened as the beat picked up and so did my movements. “I think I like this.”
All around us, bodies were slick and shiny with sweat, as if they’d been been dancing for years. That’s the thing about places like this—you get caught up and hours go by, but they feel like long minutes.

He spun me back to him and I was on the tips of my boots, facing him, his head lowered, forehead pressed against mine, lips brushing. A rush of power went through Daemon, transferring to my skin, and in the flashing lights, we were lost in this world. Our bodies undulated with the beat, fitting together fluidly while others seemed to thrash beside us, never able to find the right sync.
It felt like it was only us on the dance floor and when his lips pressed more firmly against mine, I opened up, not losing the rhythm even though he was stealing my breath. My—our—hearts were pounding, hands grabbing, clutching, slipping over the curve of my back, and behind my lids, I saw a pinprick of white light.

Sliding my hands across his cheek, I kissed him back. Static flowed, cascading off our bodies in streams of reddish-white light that was hidden under the flickering strobe lights, flowing over the floor like a wave of electricity. And all around us, people danced, either oblivious to the shocks or fueled by them, but I didn’t care. His hands were on my hips, tugging me closer and we were so gonna end up like one of those ambiguous couples in the hallway.

Cursed Teaser

“I know—I know how crazy it sounds, but it’s like I came to know you. I knew you sketched when you were upset. I saw how much you loved your sister. How brave you were to keep going to that damn school. And all those times I watched you, I grew to know every one of your fake smiles. I never even heard you laugh. All I’ve ever wanted to do is help you, because maybe then, you’d smile once and really mean it.”

JLA Reading Challenge for August #JLARC

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 10 Comments

Welcome to the start of the JLA Reading Challenge!

If you have no clue what this is or would like to participate, check out the Sign-Up page where you can get all the details.

If you're already a participant, let's get this started!

This month's goal will be to read The Lux Series, which includes:

Obsidian - Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

Shadows - The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable. Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved. Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Onyx - Being connected to Daemon Black sucks… Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard. Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem… The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s. But then everything changes… I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me? No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

2. You have until the end of the month, August 31st, to post your review or (if you reviewed a book in the past) post your thoughts about reading it again. Remember, you can post to your Blog, Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, or Facebook.
