Missed last week's discussion? You can find it here.

REMEMBER: In order to be eligible for the prizes, you must SIGN UP and then answer the questions via the Google Form below.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Pure, Chapters 1-13.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

So much happens in the first half of Pure, I don't even know where to begin! My favorite moment would have to be when Aiden and Alex go to the zoo. It was such a "normal" thing for them to do, and it really meant a lot to Alex. It was also one of the turning points in their relationship. The most heartbreaking and gut-wrenching moment of all would have to involve Caleb, easily one of my favorite secondary characters ever. I love his friendship with Alex and him and Olivia were so cute together. You know what I realized this time around?! Seth isn't as charming and appealing as I originally believed. He had his arrogance and playboy ways, but I think before it felt like it cared for Alex early on and I really liked their relationship. Reading it again, I see that he was very cold to her at times, disrespected her, and didn't care for her opinion or say in things. After the Caleb incident is when I finally saw a glimpse of the Seth I thought I liked. I guess I really did forget a lot of what happened in these books.

Here's what some readers had to say about Half-Blood, Chapters 12-21:

Courtney says "Even though Alex got into a bad situation she's still a badass warrior. My favorite part is the last scene, with the candles. It's nice to see Alex finally let go."

Richa says "Chapter 16. Enough said."

Borghild says "I'm also very happy Alex got a closure with her mom. She needed and deserved that. But we can't forget Caleb. I really don't know what Alex would do without him. He's simply awesome. So that's some of my thoughts about it."

One of Heather's favorite moments " “You don’t have anything to worry about, Alex. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.” The moments those words left my mouth, I knew I’d crossed some invisible line that I could never, ever go back from. They weren’t just words. They were an oath that I’d keep true to the end of my days."

Be sure to come back here next Friday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Next up, we'll be reading Chapters 14-27 of Pure.

So what did you think of the book so far?

Lux Series Book 5 Title & a Giveaway

7:38 PM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

Happy Release Day to Origin! As a thanks for Origin having over 40 reviews on Amazon/B&N, Jen announced the title for Book 5, the last one (!!!!!), in the Lux series.

Opposition

What do you think?!

Personally, I love it. I think it fits perfectly with what will happen in the book, the things the characters will have to face and come to terms with. It won't be coming out until Summer 2014 and the whole world will read it on the same day, or after, because there will be NO ARCs! Sigh...Ugh, the wait is going to be excruciating!

Thank goodness we still have TONS of JLA books to keep us entertained in the mean time, am I right?!

Also, Jen is hosting a pretty sweet giveaway, I love how generous she is!

My Review of Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Buy it on Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure. All Katy can do is survive. Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen? Together, they can face anything. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Wow! Just wow! Just when I thought Jen couldn’t be more of an outstanding author, she goes and writes something like Origin and simply blows me away with the sheer awesomeness of it. Is it possible to love every line, no every sentence, no every WORD, that is in this book?! Because I did! SO much happens in this book, it just blows your mind. I’ll say it, it’s definitely *bookishly* life-changing! Origin is a heart-stopping, breathtaking, action-packed bundle of EPIC all rolled into about 400 pages, with a captivating cover, to boot! An unputdownable book at its finest!

Oh, those first few chapters, really got me going. I swear, I usually don’t get all choked up and feeling all “the feels”, but Jen had me feeling the whole rainbow of emotions, back and forth, as I read this book. Jen really makes you feel everything that Katy goes through while stuck in Daedalus. A lot of the questions you’ve had about this organization and the Luxen are answered in this book and you get to see all the sides to this inevitable showdown that will beg the question – What side are you on? Sure, there were parts that I saw coming a mile away, but they were parts that I knew just HAD TO happen to make the story great and I was so happy to see Jen lay it all out there in this installment. There were some minor surprises throughout the book and I have to say, Jen seriously didn’t hold anything back here. Be forewarned, there are a LOT of deaths and dark stuff that happens in this book, but Jen adds her touch of humor and lightness when needed to keep you feeling all the emotions like I did. Although there are some new characters, and a few from the past, that make appearances, for the most part, you get a TON of Daemon and Katy in this book, which I definitely won’t complain about.

Without a doubt, my favorite part of this book was Daemon and Katy’s relationship. Or, more importantly, all of Daemon’s POVs. It’s pretty much why we’re all here, am I right?! Getting to be in his head for more than a moment here and there was absolute bliss! I loved seeing his anguish and pain while he was separated from Katy. I reveled in his joy when they were reunited. I laughed my ass off at his insane jokes and thoughts regarding his surroundings and situations. But more than that, I really loved how their relationship grew and developed in this book. They go through a crapload of crazy in Origin, which truly tests the depths of their love and, with the good and bad parts, I’m so insanely ecstatic with how Jen handled it all. There were just so many touching and heartfelt moments between these two crazy characters, and one scene that really tore at my heart a little, I just loved every minute of them together. Hands down, one of my favorite YA couples ever!

Origin is truly a knock-out, keep you at the edge of your seat, leaves you holding you breath in excitement, and has you cemented to the each and every page kind of book! It is all that, and more! Without a doubt, the best book I’ve read from Jen so far, and easily my favorite in the series to date. I literally ate, slept, and breathed Origin for the short amount of time I read it, because let’s face it, you know damn well I couldn’t put this book down. I did my best to savor every last word in this book, but really, it was just too good not to devour whole. If there’s only ONE book you even consider reading this year, it HAS TO be Origin!

Missed last week's discussion? You can find it here.

REMEMBER: In order to be eligible for the prizes, you must SIGN UP and then answer the questions via the Google Form below.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Half-Blood, Chapters 12-21.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

I forgot how amazing this book really is. The latter half has a decent amount of action and I was glued to the pages. I'd forgotten a lot about her confrontation with her mom, so it was great re-reading those scenes, seeing the heartache and pain that Alex has to go through and seeing her come out on top. Poor Caleb! I adore him so much! You know my favorite scene has to include AIDEN, lol. That would have to be CHAPTER 16!!!!! Man, when I first read that back in 2011, I thought "Wow, is Jen allowed to write that kind of scene in a YA book?!", seriously! Lol. But I loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT! SWOON! Add that to Chapter 16 in Aiden's POV?!?! Double SWOON! Oh, Leon, ever the c---blocker!

Here's what some readers had to say about Half-Blood, Chapters 1-11:

Michelle says "I love the sarcasm and the humor in these chapters as even though Alex's been through so much, she can still cheer everyone up with a snarky line."

Courtney says "I just love Alex and Aiden's banter. It's just so hilarious. But I have to say, my favorite scene is when he's taking care of her back. That scene is just so...ugh. :)"

April Etheridge says "To watch Alex and Aiden's relationship grow and morph into something so precious and beautiful is just spectacular. I also loved how hard Alex works to regain entry into the Covenant. I found myself cheering her on, impressed by her astounding determination and boldness."

Cristina Riquelme says "I really enjoy the humor sense of Alex, fav moment when Alex and Lea fight, and alex grab a handful of Lea copper hair and yanked her out of the chair."

Be sure to come back here next Friday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Next up, we'll be reading Chapters 1-13 of Pure.

Covenant Read-Along: Week 3

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Half-Blood, Chapters 1-11.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

My favorite parts included Alex meeting up with all the other half-bloods again. That scene with Lea was hilarious! Also, Caleb! I love that boy! His friendship with Alex was one of the highlights of this series. Deacon is great, too. It was interesting learning about the Covenant and the laws and ways of the Pures and Half-Bloods. These chapters introduce you to a lot of issues that become significant as the series progresses and I noticed a lot of details that I didn't the first time around. It was cool seeing Alex build her strength and skills up again, after being away from the Covenant for so long. Let's not forget about Aiden!!!! Oh, that man sure knows how to make me swoon! If I'm sore, can you rub some of that salve on me, please, Aiden?!

Thank you all for your feedback on Daimon. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:

Borghild says "...when she kicked the minister, that was so funny. And it's really great to see her strong relationship with her mother, and how much she loves her. Alex is also my favorite female character ever, and thats much because of her snark, humor, and strength."

Mary Perez says "It created a sense of mystery and intrigue and makes me wanna continue reading onto Half-Blood."

Dana Cuadrado says "I have already read books 1-4 but never read the novellas. I am never one to read the .5 or 3.5 type of books. I just want to read the main story where all the action is and I realized that I was missing out!! I loved being back in the Covenant world and reading from Alex's perspective. Daimon answered so many questions about what happened before Half-Blood and how Alex's mother died."

Jess @ Jesus Freak Reader says "I love every moment that she thought of Aiden and his eyes."

Livia Nowlin's fave quote - "It's on like Donkey Kong."

Malia's fave quote - "Whatever! Go save a dolphin or something!" Matt: "It's a whale, Alex, a whale!"

Be sure to come back here next Friday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Next up, we'll be reading Chapters 12-21 of Half-Blood.

This week we will be discussing Daimon.

Here's what I thought about Daimon:

The most enjoyable aspect of this novella was Alex. I loved being inside her head and just seeing a glimpse of her personality and style come out. Alex is easily my favorite female protagonist ever, and it's mostly due to her snark, strength, humor, and the fact that she doesn't take crap from any one. I also liked getting a glimpse of Alex's relationship with her mother. You could tell how much they love each other and special their relationship was.

Overall, it was a nice introduction to the series.

Be sure to come back here next Friday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Next up, we'll be reading Chapters 1-11 of Half-Blood.

I thought it would be cool to start everyone off nice and easy with Daimon.

For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards… and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.

According to her mother, that’s a good thing.

But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.

The daimons have found her.

Be sure to come back here next Friday to discuss the book and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!
