If you're new the series, and the book we're reading this week, here's some information about it.

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…
We'll be reading WFY all week long and having fun discussions in the FB group as well as tweeting fave lines/quotes on Twitter. Don't miss out and remember to check back here on Deity Island on Friday for the Google Form with WFY trivia questions for you to answer. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy reading!

Well, that was quick!
I'm so sad to see that this series is over. Did everyone get a chance to read ELB yet? I hope everyone loved it.
I'm a little disappointed in myself when it came to this read-along because I know I wasn't as involved as I wanted to be. Things just kind of got in the way in my own life and I just couldn't dedicate as much time as I wanted to it. I hope everyone understands. I want to thank everyone who signed up and participated. Whether it was one week, or all 8 weeks, I was happy to have you along for the ride.
Did you all have fun reading or rereading the books? How about those trivia questions? For some reason, I found it harder to come up with the questions this time around. There just wasn't enough "quick and easy" material to work with and I didn't want people spending too much time writing page-long essays, so I tried to find a good balance.
Anyways, we had 48 people sign up, which isn't bad, and about half of those who did manage to keep up with the questions each week, which is great. Now it's time to announce the winners:
- SIGNED copy of Every Last Breath (US & Intl): Bilge & Anna
- SIGNED copy of Scorched (US Only): Jaslyn
- SIGNED copy of Fall With Me (US Only): Brielle
- SIGNED swag packs (US & Intl): Sona & Chelsea
- ebook of Half-Blood: Sharon
- ebook of Forever With You: Fatima
I hope you all enjoyed the read-along and please join in me in all my future read-alongs, because you know Jen will keep pumping out those books! Join the Deity Island Read-Along FB group today!

There are TWO forms below for you to fill out, one regarding the last few chapters we all read in Stone Cold Touch and the other for your thoughts on the Read-Along as a whole. I'd love to know your feedback and thoughts on this. Thank you all for your feedback on the chapters read. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Susan Knoell says "Roth completely breaks Layla's heart as if he is pushing her towards Zayne, but then he is all jealous like when she is actually spending time with him. I love how Layla reacts when Roth shows up at school and tries to be all chummy with her. She is so fiery and you know it turns him on."
Jaslyn v says "I am really not looking forward to seeing Zayne "
Sona Dasgupta says "Action, Mystery, Lust, passion, Tearful reunion, broken hearts, secrets, jealousy and don't forget the freaking angstrom....These chapters were fully packed to erase your memory and lobotomize it with layla's world...."
How about you?
Be sure to come back here next Monday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Stone Cold Touch.
Thank you all for your feedback on the chapters read. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Sharon David says "'I lost myself the moment I found you'. That sentence pretty much did it for me. I remember how devastated I felt after reading this book for the first time."
Brielle Lassiter-Helou says "I love the battle scene at the end! We get to see Layla shift -Yay! She's not a mule! - she kicks major ddemon butt, & Zayne & Roth work together. I have two favorite quotes from the battle scene, one from each guy. I love when Layla goes to help Roth & Zayne stops her & says "No. I owe him this." My favorite Roth quote is, of course, his last line in the book. "
Susan Knoell says "Layla is so different in these chapters. She truly becomes who she is, a mix of Warden and Demon acting fearless and tough but full of compassion and love. Roth helps her to find who she truly is and made the ultimate sacrifice for her."
How about you?

Thank you all for your feedback on the chapters read. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Jaslyn v says "The feels.... I cannot even explain it. This is like my fifth time reading this book, but it feels like the first. I freaking love Roth and Layla. Seriously. They are my OTP. If they do not end up together by the end of this series I may just crawl into a hole and die. I mean Zayne's great and all, but.... Those on team Roth, you know what I mean..."
Sharon David says "Ahh!!! I love this book so much! Layla really got to me and it made me cry realizing how alone she was. Roth, well he did everything I've ever wanted him to do and we got to see a side of him that we've never seen before, he exposed his insecurities and it was so adorable. No part of this book disappointed me, I was so happy with everything and never felt like it could have been better, it was perfect."
Sona Dasgupta says "I fell in Love with Roth during these Chapters and there was no going back from it. I love how the Character of Layla grew into herself and gain more confidence and new perspective. In these chapters I also got an idea about Zayne's feelings towards Layla . All in all, I was so hooked that even thinking about stopping was out of Questions."
How about you?
Be sure to come back here next Monday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!
Next up, we'll be reading Stone Cold Touch, Chapters 1-11.

Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

Thank you all for your feedback on the chapters read. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Sharon David says "I love Roth and I absolutely loved the moments with him. It was refreshing to see a world where the public knew about gargoyles existing but at the same time, the fact that demons were unknown added to the suspense of the story."
Susan Knoell says "I love how the characters of Zayne and Roth are so different but in ways both give Layla what she needs. Zayne is like the big brother who is there for her, listens to her and supports her. Roth is all his cockiness tells her what she needs to hear and wants her to accept herself for what she is."
Celyn says "I honestly think the first 9 chapters of this book are what truly what drew me to love the series. Layla's twin emotions of ferocity & uncertainty combined with Roth's cockiness is definitely a winning combo. "

Thank you all for your feedback on the chapters read. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Sona Dasgupta says "Bitter Sweet Love is the perfect introduction for the Dark Element Series. It captured my attention from the first page. The chemistry between Jas and Dez was sizzling. And meeting Roth (the Upper Demon) was the cherry at the top."
Neiss says "In a few words, I loved the world, the plot and Jasmine and Dez's relationship, but meet Layla, Zayne & Roth for "first time" was great. I liked to see how they were when they were young."

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Bitter Sweet Love.
Here's what I thought about the novella:
I need more! I loved Dez and Jasmine. It was great getting introduced to the Warden world and also seeing a bit of Zayne and Layla before the series starts. My favorite part involved Dez and Jasmine going on their mini-adventure with their "conditions", such fun! And even though Herbert is a bad boy, I still adore him.
Thank you all for your feedback on the novella. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Be sure to come back here next Monday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!
Next up, we'll be reading Chapters 1-9 of White Hot Kiss.
One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.
So what did you think of the novella?

We're starting off with Bitter Sweet Love, the prequel.
Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.
And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again...

I know you all have been waiting for this, but we've finally settled on a date and time for the JLA Live Chat to discuss all things Opposition and Lux.
Be sure to join us this Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 7PM EST. We'll most likely be doing a Google Hangout/Youtube kind of thing and I'll post the link as soon as I can.
In the mean time, make sure you've submitted your questions for Jen via the GOOGLE FORM, as those are the only questions Jen will be answering during the chat. This is so time can be managed accordingly, so she doesn't miss any questions, and so questions aren't just flying at Jen from all over the place.
Hope to see you all there!
Hey JLA readers!
So, the Lux Read-Along has been over for a few weeks now. I'm still in the process of sorting through the winners, but I wanted to announce that the JLA Live Chat will be happening sometime next week.
The official date and time are still TBA, but all questions being answered during the chat will only come from those submitted through the form below, so I wanted to get that form up now so people have time to submit them.
Keep in mind, anyone can view the chat and comment, we want a lively a fun chat, but due to time constraints and keeping everything in order, any and all questions that Jen will answer has be from the form below. We will do our best to answer as many questions as possible.
If you have any questions, just let me know!
Welcome to Week NINE (the last week!!!!) of The Lux Series Read-Along. I can't believe this read-along is practically over and that Opposition releases next week! It's been real fun reading this series with you guys!

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Origin, Chapters 16-31.
Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:
Sigh, reading this last half again makes me both happy and also sad. SO much happens in these final chapters. Friends are lost, happy times ensue for D&K, and we get a whopper of an ending. All this just makes me extra excited for Opposition and seeing how it all ends. Will there be a happy ending for them all?
Thank you all for your feedback on the first half of Origin. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Asmaa says "I liked when Daemon told his brother Dawson "I’ll burn the world down to save her" it shows how much Daemon loved Katy and how much he'll do to get her back, and also Chapter 14 when they were in the bathroom trying to make plans for their escape and he accidentally thought at her that she is beautiful and he was so, so desperately in love with her >> that was super cute"
kelly nagy says "This book was just crazy good. it took the series to a whole new level. Really makes you think about the government and what they could be capable and probably are capable of doing. The research the secrets everything...kind of makes you really really think about running off the grid to an island somewhere and being totally self sustaining. LOL
JLA is a genius."
There are TWO forms below for you to fill out, one regarding the last few chapters we all read in Origin and the other for your thoughts on the Read-Along as a whole. I'd love to know your feedback and thoughts on this. I'll have the WRAP-UP post up some time next Monday (although I'll probably contact the winners before then to get names and details for personalization of books), after I tally up the results, work out all the prize details, and tie up loose ends.

Kelsey McFee says "This was my favorite out of the three before Origin came out. Daemon is really romantic!!!!"
Brielle Lassiter-Helou says "The award for creepy character of the year goes to Blake for climbing into bed with Katy without her knowing. Most romantic goes to Daemon for the prom night setup. "

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Opal, Chapters 19-36.
Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:
Oh, how I love this latter half of the book. Sure, things move kind of slow as they prepare to get Beth out of Mount Weather, but so much happens with Daemon and Katy's relationship, it makes my heart melt. They are seriously one of my favorite couples. I just love seeing Daemon's feeling for Katy shine through in the best possible ways. She has definitely changed him for the better. And when things take a turn for the worse, the depth of his love and affection for her is so touching. You can't help but smile. And that ending?! It breaks my heart every time.
Thank you all for your feedback on the first half of Opal. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Sonia Hart says "My favorite part would have to be when Dawson talked to Katy about his problems. Even though he has a perfectly good brother and sister, he doesn't talk to them but to Katy and I think it is beautiful. Whether he does it because he wants to or because she knows what Beth & Dawson went though, I don't know but I love the fact that he tells her all about that place and Beth. It means he trust her even though he just met her, which is nice."
Susan Knoell says "The best parts of this book are the normal moments between Daemon and Katy. it is completely swoon worthy when he introduces her as his girlfriend to fellow Luxen knowing what that means for him."

Next up, we'll be reading Origin, Chapters 1-15.
Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure. All Katy can do is survive. Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen? Together, they can face anything. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they be standing together?

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Opal, Chapters 1-18.
Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:
I definitely liked seeing Katy and Daemon focusing on their relationship, despite all the sadness with Adam and the weirdness with Dawson. I felt so bad for Dee, though, and it was tough seeing how her friendship with Katy was so messed up. It also got on my nerves to see Blake again, that rat bastard. I swear, I wanted Katy to just straight up punch him at times. It was easy to see how things were starting to change and the buildup was starting to get intense.
Thank you all for your feedback on the last half of Onyx. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Lori Christensen says "There are moments when I can understand Katy's confusion as to whether Daemon's interest in her is due to this connection or real feelings on his part. Even if she sees the justification of his action, based on fear for Dee as well as fear for her. BUt as the book comes to an end, Daemon's actions are so clearly driven by his love for her. It's such a huge relief when they are both finally in the same place. We are lulled into a false sense of HEA fog for...oh a few pages... :) Then we realize that their relationship is probably the only thing that will keep them from self-destructing at the daunting path in front of them. "
Robyn Anderson says "I loved the intensity as Katy and Daemon's relationship as she accepted the genuine feelings he had for her. I felt a huge sense of relief when Katy discovered that Bethany was alive. It was horrifying to watch Katy in the cage but she was so strong. My heart soared when Daemon rescued her. My heart went out to Daemon when he realized that Dawson was so damaged. Bring on Opal!"

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Onyx, Chapters 17-36.
Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:
It was cool seeing Katy explore her newfound powers and despite Blake's every-growing creepiness, it was necessary for Katy to control her powers. It was definitely a slippery slope for Daemon and Katy's relationship though. One of my favorite parts was definitley when Daemon helped Katy film a video. Too funny and cute! Oh and ugh, I swear, the end of Chapter 30 and then Chapter 31 gets me every time. It's like, I keep wishing it would change, even though I know the outcome. My heart totally broke for these characters.
Thank you all for your feedback on Shadows and the first half of Onyx. I loved all your responses about the books so far. Here's what some readers had to say:
Kaytee Hawse says "I love when Daemon finally starts showing his sweet side in this one! Makes me so happy to see him show his true self and not continue to act closed off. Also, I hate reading about Blake knowing what's to come"
Zili Robins says "I love Katy's snark and approach to dealing with the aliens: "Either I was turning into an alien, about to have one crawl its way out of my stomach, or I was crazy." She did start to get on my nerves when she refused to see how into her he was. She's very stubborn, but then I guess this is why they work and have fab banter!"

Next up, we'll be reading Opal, Chapters 1-18.
No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever. Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Shadows and Onyx, Chapters 1-16.
Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:
I really loved Shadows. Seeing Dawson and Bethany's love story unfold, it was just great. I loved seeing the differences in personality with both boys. Sure, Daemon is awesome, but Dawson is so sweet and considerate. Bethany is a great girl, too. It's so sad knowing what happens to them, but reliving their beginning was nice.
I really loved how Daemon was acting in this first half of Onyx. You could see his sweet and caring side start to show and even though it was frustrating to see Katy fight their relationship, I really think it was necessary to get to them to what happens next. I'll admit, I didn't realize Blake's role in all of this and just how crazy things would turn out. I honestly just thought he was there for a bit of friction between Daemon & Katy and to help Katy deal with what she was going through. Oh, and I seriously did not like Will form the very beginning. He definitely has the creepy, intense factor going on that I did not like or trust at all.
Thank you all for your feedback on the last half of Obsidian. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:
Lori Christensen says "The last chapters of this book move a lot faster. There is a lot more action. It doesn't mean I love the first half any less, but the second half is definitely more exciting."
Kaytee Hawse says "The moment when Daemon heals Katy will always be one of my favorite moments. I've been listening to the audio books this time around and it's totally different hearing it out loud. Whenever Daemon says things I just melt!"
Connie Ficker says "I totally loved it!! I couldn't remember some of the thing which were mentioned, so I almost ate the last 15 chapters of Obsidian! I cannot wait to read Shadows AND Onyx!"
