Official Obsession Synopsis

6:27 PM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

May 17th is coming up fast, which means Obsession will be here before you know it!

Jennifer shared with readers the official synopsis for Obsession today.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and—To. Die. For… Hunter is a ruthless killer. The Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe him too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job, that is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: Protect a human from his mortal enemy. Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into a walking glow stick. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

What do you think? Will Hunter win over your hearts with his badass sexiness? I can't wait to find out!

Jennifer posted recently that Amazon released the back synopsis for Origin. Here is it, people:

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure. All Katy can do is survive. Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen? Together, they can face anything. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they be standing together?

Oh, Daemon!!!

What do you think?

Ugh, I seriously can't wait to read this book!!!

Happy 1 Year to Deity Island

5:28 PM Vi Win Win 9 Comments

Whoa! I almost missed this!

*Happy 1 Year Blogoversary to Deity Island!!!!!*

Yes, it's actually been a full year since I launched Deity Island. Wow, that was fast! We've gone through some changes, I'm still figuring out what works for me and all of that junk. Overall, I think things are progressing smoothly and I look forward to another year of fun.

The sad thing is I don't really have anything planned just yet on how I'm going to celebrate since I feel like this year just flew by and this day just snuck up on me. I do, however, have some time this weekend where I will brainstorm and plan in the hopes that I'll have something up for next week.

The good news is that I do have a tiny swag giveaway for you all today for some signed Apollyon and Wait for You bookmarks, thanks to the always-amazing Jennifer. So, I hope you'll enjoy this for now and I'll keep you all posted on what else I have in store to celebrate!

Questions for you: Anything more or less you'd like to see on Deity Island? How are you enjoying your experience here?

Exclusive - Sentinel Cover Reveal

"And he would wait forever for me, just as I would wait forever and a day for him."

Release Date: December 10, 2013
Add it to Goodreads

Personally, I really love it. It kind of fits for a "last book in a series". Yes, it's not as colorful or flashy as the other books, but that's what makes it stand out. It looks like a conclusion book to me and I think SHP did a fantastic job. Loving that smoky feel.

Sooooo, what do you think?

Apollyon Blog Tour - Author Interview

8:00 AM Vi Win Win 67 Comments

Hey there! I'm so psyched to welcome you all to the Deity Island stop on the Apollyon Blog Tour! So freaking awesome!

In case you don't know anything about the book, here's some info for ya:

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex. Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back. The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries. Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

See my full review here.

Buy it on Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository.

Check out this fun interview I did with Jennifer:

1. If were to have a list of 5 celebrity guys that you're allowed to sleep with, who would be on that list?
- Matthew Mcconaughey
- Henry Cavil
- Chris Pine
- Ian Somerhalder
- Joseph Morgan

2. If you could transform into any ONE animal at will, what would it be?
- A tiger.

3. Alex and Daemon are trapped in a locked room together for one hour. What would happen? GO!
- They would out snark one another

4. What are three things you have in your purse right now?
- wallet
- lotion
- blow pops

5. How much research do you have to do for your books? Which was the most difficult/time-consuming to work on?
- My books are about 10% research. Maybe that shows in my paranormal. scifi books, lol, but I rather be writing instead of researching.

6. I know you've FINALLY written that novel on gargoyles you've been dying to write for a long time now. Is there any other are of the supernatural/sci-fi world that you want to tackle one day?
- I think I've tackled all that I want to, but maybe something with the sea? Mermaids? Or sirens.

This or That:
One Direction or Justin Bieber - What. The. Hell.
Dragons or Unicorns - dragons
My Little Pony or Cabbage Patch Kids -Garbage Pail kids
Sam or Dean - Dean
Wine or Mixed Drink - Neither

And here's my LETTER that you will need in order to unlock the super amazing CHAPTER 22 in AIDEN'S POV!!! Unbelievable, right?! I seriously cannot wait to read that bad boy!

Be With Me Teasers

10:07 AM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

Jen recently posted some teasers from her upcoming novel, Be With Me (the second book in the Wait for You series). There's no word yet on the release date, but I'll be sure to update as soon as I know.

Here's one from Twitter:

“Is Spring Mills even a town?” At Jase’s confused stare, I shrugged. “I mean, isn’t it really just Hedgesville or Falling Waters? Just because you build a super Wal-Mart, that doesn’t make it a town.”
Jase stared at me a moment longer and then he laughed deeply.
God help me, but I loved it when he laughed like that. No matter how irritated I was with him or how badly I wanted to karate kick him between the legs, when he laughed, it was like the sun was shining in my eyes.
Leaning over, he wrapped an arm around my waist, tugging me closer—close enough that if I lifted my head, our mouths would be inches apart. My heart literally did several pliĆ©s in my chest. If talking about fake towns and Wal-Marts got him in the hugging mood, I’d start naming other places like Darksville and Shanghai and—
“Sometimes I don’t think you’re right in the head.” He squeezed me as he dropped his chin to the top of my head and my breath caught in my throat. “But I like that. I really do. Not sure what that says about me.”
“That you’re awesome?”
He chuckled. “Yeah, something like that.”

And a picture to tide you over:

My Review of Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout

9:00 AM Vi Win Win 3 Comments

After the earth-shattering cliffhanger epicness that was Deity and the emotional heartbreaker that was Elixir, I had to immediately dive into Apollyon as soon as I got it. And like always, that was both a good thing and a bad thing.

Good Thing: It wasn’t that long ago that I read Deity & Elixir so I didn’t have much to remember (not like I forget much of this series anyways because I’m so obsessed). Apollyon was FILLED with Aiden and Alex to my heart’s content, I was basically the greedy kid in the corner savoring each and every line where their relationship progressed.

Bad Thing: I have to wait until FREAKING DECEMBER to know how it all ends! Why, Gods, why?! Why must you torture me so?! Although not a cliffhanger ending, it was still one of those endings that had me flipping the pages, pointlessly wishing there was just a smidgeon more for me to read. I seriously do not want this series to end!

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – Oh, Aiden! Gods, can I honestly love this guy more?! I have yet to “meet” a fictional guy that I love more than him. The dude is brave, caring, smart, strong, and compassionate. He’s sexy as hell and fiercely loyal. I could name about a hundred adjectives to describe the awesomeness that is Aiden St. Delphi! His relationship with Alex is tested a lot throughout the book and you really start to see the strength in it and just how deeply these two care for each other. Their love is just that. Love, in its truest and most beautiful form. There’s also quite a few smexy times thrown in there for those who love it, like me (LOL), and I really loved it. There is this one scene when Alex and Aiden journey into the underworld that is just, PERFECT, sigh…I can’t even put into words. They are easily my favorite bookish couple, without a doubt.

There is hardly any of Seth in Apollyon, which kind of surprised me. I expected to see more of him, but I can see that Jen is holding off for a really juicy confrontation in Sentinel. I honestly still have hope for Seth. He really is a good guy who is being misled and high on power. I fear for the ending though because we all know that there can be only one Apollyon. Gods, just writing this is getting me even more pumped for Sentinel!

Alex’s fate just keeps getting more and more twisted as she learns exactly what it means to be the second Apollyon. In finding a way to stop Seth, she uncovers a deeper truth to her destiny and what exactly the Gods have in store for her. She’s always been a strong female lead, my go-to heroine when asked, so I love seeing how she develops even more mentally and physically in Apollyon. She learns to harness her powers and perfect her fighting skills, while also seeing the “bigger picture” in this epic war of the Gods. She’s also always been compassionate and a determined believer for Half-Blood rights, and you see a lot of that shine through here.

The secondary characters! I love them all! It’s not very often that I really like all the characters in a book/series, even the ones I hate (love to hate). The Covenant series is an exception. We see a little more of Deacon, Lea, Marcus, and plenty of others here. Some of Gods even make appearances as well, old and new. They are truly an exceptional cast and it was definitely a thrilling ride watching them at odds with Alex as the Seth-obsessed Apollyon and when they venture away from their safe haven to a place that holds quite a few unexpected enemies. I’ll admit, I totally figured out who was behind it all, but watching it all play out?! Now that was freaking awesome. Oh, that one scene where Alex and Aiden look at each other (you’ll know when you get to it), *tear*!

Whereas Deity unleashed a pivotal point in this saga, Apollyon sets up the scene for what I’m sure will be one hell of an epic conclusion. This series has yet to disappoint me. Why do we have to wait until the end of the year to see how it all ends?! I would seriously sell my left kidney to read Sentinel RIGHT NOW! You hear this, Kate?!

*Please Note: This review was originally posted on my personal blog, Vi3tBabe, and was re-published here on Deity Island for fans of the series to get a more comprehensive overview of my thoughts and opinions of Jennifer's books in one place.*
