Lux Read-Along: Week 9

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 2 Comments

Welcome to Week NINE (the last week!!!!) of The Lux Series Read-Along. I can't believe this read-along is practically over and that Opposition releases next week! It's been real fun reading this series with you guys!

If you want to know more about the Read-Along, sign up for it, and get all the details, check out this page here. You'll find links to all the weekly posts on that page, too.

Missed last week's discussion? You can find it here.

REMEMBER: In order to be eligible for the prizes, you must SIGN UP and then answer the questions via the Google Form below.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Origin, Chapters 16-31.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

Sigh, reading this last half again makes me both happy and also sad. SO much happens in these final chapters. Friends are lost, happy times ensue for D&K, and we get a whopper of an ending. All this just makes me extra excited for Opposition and seeing how it all ends. Will there be a happy ending for them all?

Thank you all for your feedback on the first half of Origin. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:

Asmaa says "I liked when Daemon told his brother Dawson "I’ll burn the world down to save her" it shows how much Daemon loved Katy and how much he'll do to get her back, and also Chapter 14 when they were in the bathroom trying to make plans for their escape and he accidentally thought at her that she is beautiful and he was so, so desperately in love with her >> that was super cute"

kelly nagy says "This book was just crazy good. it took the series to a whole new level. Really makes you think about the government and what they could be capable and probably are capable of doing. The research the secrets everything...kind of makes you really really think about running off the grid to an island somewhere and being totally self sustaining. LOL JLA is a genius."

There are TWO forms below for you to fill out, one regarding the last few chapters we all read in Origin and the other for your thoughts on the Read-Along as a whole. I'd love to know your feedback and thoughts on this. I'll have the WRAP-UP post up some time next Monday (although I'll probably contact the winners before then to get names and details for personalization of books), after I tally up the results, work out all the prize details, and tie up loose ends.

REMEMBER: You only have until Aug 2nd to answer this and any of the other questions you may have missed. Sorry that the time is cramped for the last set of questions, but I'll definitely need enough time to tally up results for the trivia questions and such.

If you have any questions, just let me know in the comments or email me. I'll discuss all my thoughts and anything else I have to say in the WRAP-UP post! See you then!

So what did you think of the book so far?

Lux Prompt Tour: Opposition

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 22 Comments

Want a chance to win a SIGNED copy of Opposition?

Just answer the following question in the comments section below and a random winner will be selected by Entangled Publishing on 7/31. US only.

What do you like most about the Lux series?

So, what do I like most about the Lux Series?

Well, that would have to be the progression of Daemon and Katy's relationship. It started out pretty rough and I'll admit, I didn't like Daemon at all at the beginning. The whole "hot and cold" thing turns me off. But, as the story progressed and they became more involved in each other's lives, I loved seeing how they complimented each other as individuals and as a couple, and how they fell in love. They have easily become one of my favorite YA couples ever and I love seeing them now, so trusting in each other and willing to overcome all odds to be together. I'm only hoping the final installment strengthens their relationship even more.

Opposition official blurb:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can’t believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

Available on August 5th: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Lux: Beginnings (Obsidian & Onyx) official Blurb:

Obsidian

There's an alien next door. And with his looming height and eerie green eyes, he's hot...until he opens his mouth. He's infuriating. Arrogant. Stabworthy. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, he lights me up with a big fat bullseye. Turns out he has a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal his abilities and the only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Onyx

Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro alien connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems. I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

Available now online, at Target, and bookstores: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Lux: Consequences (Opal & Origin) official blurb:

Opal

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing alien hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Origin

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Available now online, at Target, and bookstores:Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

I totally felt for Daemon & Katy in this. Their emotions were so raw and real. I loved it. And I seriously hated Blake. He definitely got what he deserved.

Thank you all for your feedback on the last half of Opal. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:

Kelsey McFee says "This was my favorite out of the three before Origin came out. Daemon is really romantic!!!!"

Brielle Lassiter-Helou says "The award for creepy character of the year goes to Blake for climbing into bed with Katy without her knowing. Most romantic goes to Daemon for the prom night setup. "

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Opal, Chapters 19-36.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

Oh, how I love this latter half of the book. Sure, things move kind of slow as they prepare to get Beth out of Mount Weather, but so much happens with Daemon and Katy's relationship, it makes my heart melt. They are seriously one of my favorite couples. I just love seeing Daemon's feeling for Katy shine through in the best possible ways. She has definitely changed him for the better. And when things take a turn for the worse, the depth of his love and affection for her is so touching. You can't help but smile. And that ending?! It breaks my heart every time.

Thank you all for your feedback on the first half of Opal. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:

Sonia Hart says "My favorite part would have to be when Dawson talked to Katy about his problems. Even though he has a perfectly good brother and sister, he doesn't talk to them but to Katy and I think it is beautiful. Whether he does it because he wants to or because she knows what Beth & Dawson went though, I don't know but I love the fact that he tells her all about that place and Beth. It means he trust her even though he just met her, which is nice."

Susan Knoell says "The best parts of this book are the normal moments between Daemon and Katy. it is completely swoon worthy when he introduces her as his girlfriend to fellow Luxen knowing what that means for him."

Be sure to come back here next Monday to discuss the chapters we read and answer some questions for your chance at winning some pretty cool prizes!

Next up, we'll be reading Origin, Chapters 1-15.

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure. All Katy can do is survive. Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen? Together, they can face anything. But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they be standing together?

Lux Read-Along: Week 6

Welcome to Week SIX of The Lux Series Read-Along. If you want to know more about the Read-Along, sign up for it, and get all the details, check out this page here. You'll find links to all the weekly posts on that page, too.

REMEMBER: In order to be eligible for the prizes, you must SIGN UP and then answer the questions via the Google Form below.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Opal, Chapters 1-18.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

I definitely liked seeing Katy and Daemon focusing on their relationship, despite all the sadness with Adam and the weirdness with Dawson. I felt so bad for Dee, though, and it was tough seeing how her friendship with Katy was so messed up. It also got on my nerves to see Blake again, that rat bastard. I swear, I wanted Katy to just straight up punch him at times. It was easy to see how things were starting to change and the buildup was starting to get intense.

Thank you all for your feedback on the last half of Onyx. I loved all your responses about the book. Here's what some readers had to say:

Lori Christensen says "There are moments when I can understand Katy's confusion as to whether Daemon's interest in her is due to this connection or real feelings on his part. Even if she sees the justification of his action, based on fear for Dee as well as fear for her. BUt as the book comes to an end, Daemon's actions are so clearly driven by his love for her. It's such a huge relief when they are both finally in the same place. We are lulled into a false sense of HEA fog for...oh a few pages... :) Then we realize that their relationship is probably the only thing that will keep them from self-destructing at the daunting path in front of them. "

Robyn Anderson says "I loved the intensity as Katy and Daemon's relationship as she accepted the genuine feelings he had for her. I felt a huge sense of relief when Katy discovered that Bethany was alive. It was horrifying to watch Katy in the cage but she was so strong. My heart soared when Daemon rescued her. My heart went out to Daemon when he realized that Dawson was so damaged. Bring on Opal!"
