Lux Series Collector's Editions and New Covers

6:48 PM Vi Win Win 3 Comments

You read that right, people! Jen announced that Entangled Pub has decided to make a couple Collector's Editions of the Lux series that are set to be released on June 3, 2014. For complete details as to why they're doing this, check out Jen's post.

So what does this mean exactly?

1. We'll be getting two books, one with Obsidian and Onyx together, and another with Opal and Origin together.

2. There will be exclusive content in each edition:
- Volume 1 will have deleted/cut scenes from Obsidian and Onyx featuring Katy & Daemon
- Volume 2 will have TWO scenes in Daemon's POV (Chapter 33 and the last scene, both from Opal)

3. Each volume will get new covers, unrelated to the previous books already out in print. That also means that Opposition, the fifth and final book in the series will have a cover to match the Collector's Editions. Yes, that means all the books won't match, but it's a small price to pay for the series to reach a broader audience and for them to stand out more among the plethora of books with similar covers.

4. The covers for the previous books (Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin) will eventually be re-branded, possibly to match the Collector's Editions. Better grab those copies now while you can before they change forever!

This is all GOOD news, don't fear! Yes, your covers won't match and we'll all miss Pepe & Sztella, but think of the new pretties you'll be adding to your shelves and all the crazy awesome content that comes with it.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

My Review of Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 1 Comments

Dez wasn’t just Jasmine’s crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything…right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn’t help that Jas’s father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he’s back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn’t taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again…

When an author can take the preconceived notions of “ugly & terrifying” gargoyles and turns them into “hot & sexy, yet terrifying” gargoyles, you know you’ve got a winner! I was excited about this series way back when Jen told me she was even attempting to write a book about gargoyles, where we appropriately joked about the actual cartoon show, Gargoyles. I knew if anyone could do these creatures justice, it would be Jen. And boy, did she! Barely getting a glimpse of these creatures, known as Wardens, I’m already intrigued and eager to learn more. Not only that, Jen introduces a slew of new (to me) creatures (i.e. Herbert) and adds her twists to some known ones. In between learning about all these fascinating creatures, you get the typical unrivaled JLA romance that I love so much.

Dez is yet another guy I’ll be adding to my list of book boyfriends, in the special top “JLA section” that all her boys tend to be categorized in. Seriously, her boys need to be placed in a category all of their own, because damn, can they make me swoon! Dez is sexy, strong, sweet, and considerate. Sure the way he left Jasmine three years ago was abrupt and hurtful, but when the truth comes out, you can’t help but feel for the guy. I loved their relationship, how they grew up together, friends-turned-lovers. Their dialogue was fun and their personalities clicked together very well. Jasmine also gets props for not giving into Dez right away and learning to trust him again, despite moments of lust-driven slips. I also liked that she wasn’t afraid to break free from the norms in her race of creatures, yearning for more and not content with what the women in their world were supposed to do.

Oh, and I loved seeing Zayne, Layla, and even Roth a bit in this, too. They are the main characters in the first book in this series, White Hot Kiss, which I can’t wait to read!

Bitter Sweet Love was a great prequel to what I’m sure will be an amazing series. I’m already intrigued by the cast of characters, the supernatural world, and the mesmerizing romances Jen has created and I know it will only get better and more intense as the series progresses. Trust me, this is one series you don’t want to miss!

Exclusive JLA Interview - Jen Shares Her Thoughts on the Obsidian Movie & Covenant TV Show

11:19 AM Vi Win Win 1 Comments

Awhile ago I managed to ask Jen a few questions about how Obsidian was optioned for a movie and the Covenant series was optioned for TV. There hasn't been any news and Jen even posted about that today, but I figured I'd get off my lazy butt and actually post this interview.

1. Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard the news? What was your initial reaction to it all? I was visiting my mom when I heard about Obsidian being optioned for a movie, and I was getting ready for a yard sale when I heard about the Covenant series being optioned for a TV series. I was excited to find out about both options, but I hated having to keep the news a secret.

2. What are your thoughts to Lux being a movie instead of a TV show? Covenant as a TV show instead of a movie? I was really open to both possibilities for both series. I’m excited to see Obsidian on the big screen, and I’m equally excited to see the Covenant series on TV. I think they will both be very different, but still very cool.

3. What are you most looking forward to as production begins for Obsidian and the Covenant TV show (reading the screenplay, seeing a favorite scene being performed, casting, etc.)? I’m looking forward to all of it, but I think I’m most looking forward to the casting.

4. How are you hoping fans/readers will react to this news? Any words of wisdom for them regarding the whole "book to movie" adaptation area? I want my readers to be as excited as I am about the news. I would also like for my readers to keep an open mind about the entire process, including the scripts and the casting for both the movie and the TV series. Things will inevitably be changed in both and that's okay. As a movie or TV show, the need to reach a broader audience, so changes will be required.

5. What is one important scene you're hoping will stay true from the book into the movie? book to TV show? I honestly don’t have any one scene from either series that I want to stay absolutely true to the books because I know that Sierra Pictures and Herrick Entertainment are going to make good choices regarding the scripts. Sometimes scenes from books need to be changed or tweaked a little to work onscreen. I’m open to this possibility because I know that just because a scene works in a book doesn’t mean that it will play out well in a movie or on TV.

6. What were some of the reactions your family and friends had when you told them/they found out the news? I’ll just say that there was a lot of screaming!

7. Are there any particular artists you're hoping will add their magic to the official movie soundtrack? I’m just going to be thrilled to have an official movie soundtrack! I can’t wait to see the artists and songs on it.

8. At the end of the day, what do you hope fans/readers/TV & movie watchers will get from seeing your books on the big & little screen? I hope that readers really enjoy getting to see the characters and their stories move from the books to a movie and a TV series. And, I hope that viewers who have never heard of my books will fall for Katy and Daemon, and Alex, Aiden, and Seth in the same way my readers have fallen for them.

Here's hoping things continue to progress, however long it takes!

Bitter Sweet Love Release Day Launch

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

Jennifer L. Armentrout's amazing novella in her new The Dark Elements Series, BITTER SWEET LOVE, is out and we are excited to join in the release day launch for it. BITTER SWEET LOVE is the Prequel Novella for The Dark Elements Series and is full of Wardens, fantasy, and romance. The first novel in the series, WHITE HOT KISS, will be released February 25, 2014. Check out what we have for you today! There's also a fantastic excerpt for you to check out below!

EXCERPT:

Moving lightning fast, Dez shifted and I was suddenly underneath him. His arms were on either side of my head, caging me in. Our bodies didn’t touch, but I felt him to the tips of my toes anyway.
The teasing grin disappeared when I dragged in a deep breath and my chest brushed his. Everything changed in an instant. The playful mood faded, replaced by primal heaviness. Our gazes collided and locked. Neither of us moved. His closeness sent a series of shivers skittering across my skin and made it hard to take slow, even breaths. My body tensed when his gaze dropped to my mouth.
He tilted his head to the side. “I… I honestly have no idea what we were talking about.”
                “Good. Neither do I.”
He shifted his weight onto one arm, bring him closer. “Have you enjoyed your trip so far?”
“Yes.” I felt as if I couldn’t get enough air into my lungs.
“Good.” He lowered his head. His breath was minty as it moved across my cheek and then my lips. “I’m glad.”
I wasn’t really following the conversation and I wasn’t sure that he was fully aware of what was coming out of his mouth. I searched my hazy brain for something to say and wet my lips. I-
The sound that came out of Dez’s chest rumbled through me. A stuttered heartbeat passed and then his lips were on mine. There was nothing slow about this kiss. It scorched my skin and caused my body to stretch tight like a bowstring. The kiss deepened, spinning my senses. I shuddered when his hand curved over my shoulder and drifted down to my waist, his long fingers spreading out under the hem of my shirt, grazing the bare skin of my stomach.
I gasped, floored by the raw sensations pounding through my blood. My skin felt as if I was about to phase. Maybe I was.

“Jasmine,” he whispered, the word falling against my lips, and then his body was pressing mine into the mattress, heavy, sweet and hard.

The Covenant Series Read-Along WRAP UP

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

I'm SO sorry this wrap up post is SUPER late. Life got in the way!

Anyways...

Let me start off by saying I had a FANTASTIC time hosting this read-along, chatting with other readers, and reveling in the Covenant series once more. I loved it just as much, if not more, the second time around!

All in all, I think this event was a huge success. I'll admit, things started out strong and got scarce as the weeks went by, but I had some diehard readers stick through until the end and get through all the trivia questions, so YAY! Honestly though, even if you participated for just a week or even attempted to by signing up, I adore each and every one of you.

We had a total of 64 readers signed up, so thank you all!

As for the winners, I wanted to give a shout out to the lucky few:

- SIGNED Copy of Sentinel by JLA (One US & One INT'L): Borghild & Malia
- SIGNED Copy of Wait for You by JLA (US Only): Sami Diaz
- SIGNED Copy of Origin by JLA (US Only): Dana
- SIGNED Copy of Frigid by JLA(US Only): Jessirae
- SIGNED Bookmarks (variety packs): Mary Perez
- SIGNED Bookmarks from K-Books (UK Only): Jennifer Gaskell
- THREE Sentinel T-Shirts from SHP (US & Canada): Stephanie Zhang, Livia Nowlin, & Courtney Slyne
- ONE Covenant-themed Jewelry Piece from Hebel Designs (INT'L): Heather Self
- ONE Set of Covenant series bookmarks from I Heart Big Books (INT'L): Fatima Tariq

Again, thank you SO MUCH to those who donated prizes. You guys are truly amazing!

I'm hoping to get the prizes shipped out by the end of the month, so hopefully most of you will get your prizes by the end of the year.

Remember, the Wrap-Up form will remain open for quite some time, so if you participated at all, I'd love your feedback. Here's some of what I've been getting so far:

Thoughts on the series:

Absolutely love it! One of my favourite series of all time, and it always will be. This is one of those series I can re-read anytime I want.

I love the series so damn much :) They were one of my first books to read in the paranormal genre, people will probably kill me when I say this, but if I had to pick ONE favorite series, it would be the Covenant series. I love the world of greek mythology, probably another reason why I love it so much.

I love, love, love the Covenant Series. It was gripping right from the start with heaps of twists and turns and amazing characters; a really exciting and enjoyable series.

Thoughts on the read-along:

I think it was great, especially the timing, since I needed to re-read the series before reading Sentinel. Having the facebook group is loads of fun, too!

It was great! The questions def had me re-thinking and made me savor what was happening instead of just blitzing through the whole novel. I also liked how we could answer the Qs in our own time, when were not busy, it made me feel like I wasn't missing out.

I thought the Read-Along was a brilliant idea and I have loved participating in it! It really got me all hyped for Sentinel re-reading all the books again and it was so fun answering the questionnaires.

Btw, it seems like I'll be doing a Lux Read-Along next year before Opposition comes out, since everyone is asking about it. I'm super excited. Things are still in the early planning stages, but if you're so inclined, you can join the Facebook group for now! Things won't be kicking into high gear until later next year, but we can always chat about it.

That's it for now!

My Review of Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout

11:08 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

It's a beautiful day for a war.
As the mortal world slowly slips into chaos of the godly kind, Alexandria Andros must overcome a stunning defeat that has left her shaken and in doubt of their ability to end this war once and for all.

And with all the obstacles between Alex and her happily-ever-after with the swoonworthy Aiden St. Delphi, they must now trust a deadly foe as they travel deep into the Underworld to release one of the most dangerous gods of all time.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

When I say I love this series, I truly mean it. From the very first page of Daimon to the very last page of Sentinel, I have been firmly enthralled, riveted, and glued to this story and cast of characters. The Covenant series is truly a legend among books in my opinion. Not only is the story genuine and engaging, the characters are easily some of my favorite YA characters of all time. Jen sparked my intrigue with Half-Blood, had me torn in Pure, captured my heart in Deity, (got me all emotional in Elixir), blew me away with Apollyon, and she gave one hell of an amazing conclusion with Sentinel. Sentinel stands out among its predecessors by really drawing out your emotions and sensibility. You've watched these characters go through so much and when you finally live the epic conclusion, you're definitely left with a feeling of completion and satisfaction. At least, I did.

Alex has grown so much as a female character throughout this series, it just amazes me. She'll always have that inner snark and humor that I love and adore, but she's also become more responsible, sensible, and mature; especially considering all that she's been through and what she faces in Sentinel. She's still my favorite YA heroine, that's for sure. I loved how real Jen kept Alex, especially after what happened with Ares in Apollyon. I got to see various sides of Alex I never thought I would and I loved it. The ending really got me all kinds of choked up and just seeing Alex handle it all just really made me want to hug her.

Aiden. Oh, Aiden. I can never say his name without a loving sigh afterwards. That man is just pure perfection. You all know how much I love him, and he doesn't disappoint in this book. The love, care, consideration, and respect he has for Alex simply radiates off the pages and I can't say enough how I wish this guy were real. Finally embracing their relationship after what happens in Deity and Apollyon, I loved how open and affectionate he was to Alex and how much he valued their love. You get to see a different side of Aiden here and I actually really liked it. I think it made him seem more real and really, if you ever doubted just how much he loves Alex, by the end, you'll understand. This guy?! Ugh, I swear, I'm forever and always, a St. Delphi girl!

While I will say I live and breathe the romance between Alex and Aiden, I also loved Jen's take on the mythology and how that aspect was a strong theme throughout all her books, but especially becoming more and more prominent as the books progressed. You definitely get your fair share of Gods and other mythical creatures in Sentinel and I like how Jen breathed new life into these age-old beings. I loved Apollo. Every time I read one of these books, I want to dive into Greek mythology, re-reading the ones I know and love, and reading those that I have yet to discover.

Let me also say that Seth truly won me over. I was hoping that Seth would redeem himself after all he did in the previous books and I can safely say he did that and so much more. He really surprised me quite a bit in Sentinel. In the other books, we got a playful, sexy, arrogant, and sometimes challenging Seth, but I always knew, deep down, he was a good guy. How good, is still yet to be seen, but he I liked the direction Jen took his character and his relationship with Alex takes on a whole new level after all is said and done. Honestly though, by the end of the book, I just wanted to hug the guy. I love that we've only barely scratched the surface of Seth, yet I care for him so much as a character. I can't wait to know more about him.

I truly never wanted this series to end, (any chance to read more Alex & Aiden scenes is fine by me) but I am very happy with the way Jen ended it. Just thinking about this book and this series is getting me all emotional and making me want to re-read the series even though I literally just did that not too long ago. I tried really hard to savor every word and page, yet also wanting to fly through it so I could see what would happen next. Sentinel is everything you've come to expect from Jen and the Covenant series, and so much more. You get love, action, drama, friendship, all the crazy supernatural stuff, a touch of bittersweetness and tons of humor and entertainment. I can't recommend this book, and this series, enough.

Spin-Off New: The Titan Series - The Return

9:00 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

Still reeling from a fantastic Sentinel Release Party that happened this weekend, I wanted to officially post the news here about Jen's BIG reveal.

Yep, ICYMI, Jen will be writing a spin-off of the Covenant series, dubbed the Titan series, which will be based on Seth and a mystery mortal girl. The first book is called The Return and will come out February 2015. I know, it's a crazy long wait, but I know it'll be well worth it.

Here's what Jen had to say about it:

1. The Return will be in dual POV (Seth and our main protagonist)
2. You have NOT met the female lead yet.
3. The female lead has absolutely no knowledge of gods and any of that
4. Since it’s a Titan novel, you can expect… the Titans.
5. Apollo will be all up in the book, because well, it’s Apollo and I sort of like him.
6. Deacon and Luke will make appearances, but other main characters will not be featured in this series. (Not giving details to avoid as much spoilers as possible)
7. The biggest difference is that the Titan series will be New Adult paranormal. And here’s the reason why. I never gave Seth’s birthday, but he’s always been well over the age of 18 years old, and I really have no real reason bringing him into a high school environment without making him look like a creeper. And he already has enough creeper tendencies as is, so he really is too old for YA. Does that mean the book will be inappropriate for younger readers? Absolutely not. Will it have more adult content? Probably. I mean, Seth was always borderline inappropriate, but my YA books have that, so….
8. And it will be releasing in early 2015, tentatively February 2015 in both print and digital.

What do you all think of the placeholder cover? Remember, it's not the final cover! I still like it though, and Jen and fans at the event were particularly diggin' the "one tear drop" look.

Other thoughts and stuff related to the event I detailed (with pictures) on my other blog, and you can check out that post here.

Btw, I am going to eventually post that Covenant Read-Along wrap-up post! I'm aiming for either Friday or before that, if I can manage it. It will happen though! Oh, and I have an exclusive interview to post with Jen regarding the Obsidian movie/Covenant TV show, so be on the lookout for that, too!

Covenant Read-Along: Week 14

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 0 Comments

Welcome to Week FOURTEEN (the LAST week!!!) of The Covenant Series Read-Along. I can't believe it's practically over and that Sentinel is releasing in a few days!!!

If you want to know more about the Read-Along, sign up for it, and get all the details, check out this page here. You'll find links to all the weekly posts on that page, too.

Missed last week's discussion? You can find it here.

REMEMBER: In order to be eligible for the prizes, you must SIGN UP and then answer the questions via the Google Form below.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Apollyon, Chapters 31-37.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read:

Well, that was a heavy set of final chapters. From the battle with the automatons to the discovery of which God is behind all this - it was just pure awesome. It was a good mix of sad and sweet times, even an Alex and Aiden time thrown in for good measure. But boy, that scene with the God was intense. I really felt for Alex. And afterwards, I'm just so curious as to what it all means - what Asclepius said, all of Alex's ominous gut feelings, and a surprise visit from a familiar face with some curious looks and such. I can't wait for Sentinel now!

There are TWO forms below for you to fill out, one regarding the last few chapters we all read in Apollyon and other for your thoughts on the Read-Along as a whole. I'd love to know your feedback and thoughts on this. I'll have the WRAP-UP post up some time next week, most likely Thursday or Friday (although I'll probably contact the winners before then to get names and details for personalization of books), after I tally up the results, work out all the prize details, and tie up loose ends.

REMEMBER: You only have until Nov. 6th to answer this and any of the other questions you may have missed. Sorry that the time is cramped for the last set of questions, but I'll definitely need enough time to tally up results for the trivia questions and such.

If you have any questions, just let me know in the comments or email me. I'll discuss all my thoughts and anything else I have to say in the WRAP-UP post! See you then!

Sentinel Tour: Deity Day

12:00 AM Vi Win Win 1 Comments

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
JLA Mini Interview

For JLA - Deity lets the Gods out of the bag. Who’s your favorite God to write and why? Apollo. I just really enjoyed writing his character because of his personality.

For Alex - The vanishing act of Apollo is sorta fun but his timing can be annoying. If he wasn’t a God and still pulled that trick, what would you do to him? Oh, I would kick his ass. I’m tempted to try it, God or not.

For Aiden – What was your reaction to finding out the truth about Leon? I was surprised, but given the situation in which I found out, I couldn’t even focus on Leon. I was too focused on Alex at that moment.

For Apollo – Were there ever any times that you wanted to intervene but didn’t to protect your identity? Yes, that girl needs a full time babysitter. I tried to be around, especially when I knew Aiden wasn’t with her, and I did intervene a few times without revealing my identity.

Covenant Read-Along: Week 13

Welcome to Week THIRTEEN of The Covenant Series Read-Along.

Now, let's discuss what you read during the week, Apollyon, Chapters 22-30.

Here's what I thought about the chapters I read so far:

Ah, the cave scene! Easily one of my favorite scenes from the whole series. If you read it, you'd understand. I really enjoyed Alex and Aiden's time in the Underworld. I think Jen did a good job putting her own spin to it while keeping to the original myths. I especially love how she described Persephone! After that, things are pretty much set up for the final, exciting scenes of the book. I also loved the scene where Deacon talks to Alex, discussing just how important she is to Aiden and all that good stuff. I adore Deacon. Another good part? Seeing Alex go all "fierce Apollyon" on some Sentinels who were trying to start trouble. I loved it!

Here's what some readers had to say about Apollyon, Chapters 11-21:
Borghild says "The car ride was one of my favorite moments of these chapters. Just some good Alex and Aiden time, before everything goes to hell, literally. "Alex..." He leaned toward the window, avoiding the dangerous second bun. "Come on." "Eat it," I ordered, holding it with two hands now, making it dance in the air. "It's begging you. 'Eat me'.""

One of Jennifer's favorite quotes was "His voice dropped low. “I’m being what?” Infuriating. Stubborn. Thick-skulled. Freaking sexy. “Good gods, can we stop arguing and just, I don’t know, make out?”"
